Important Update

<\/strong><\/span>The <\/span>Town Board has increased the Persons with Disabilities Tax Exemption income limit<\/strong> from 37,400 to <\/span>58,400,<\/strong>\u00a0allowing more disabled homeowners to qualify.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You may qualify for Person with Disabilities<\/strong>\u00a0Tax Exemption<\/strong> if you meet all the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To qualify, the applicant must have physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activities, as defined by New York State law. Proof of disability may include eligibility for Social Security Administration (SSA) award letter, or disability benefits from the U.S. Postal Service, or Railroad Retirement Board disability letter, or State Certificate for the blind.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be owned-occupied by a person with a disability, as defined by state law, and used as the applicant\u2019s primary residence, or the exemption may be granted to property occupied by a tenant with a disability under a life-interest lease, or a person with a disability whose primary residence is in a special needs trust.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Your combined household income (owners and spouses), based on your 2024 Federal Adjusted Gross Income, is under 58,400 for properties in the Town of Wheatland.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A completed application must be submitted to the Town Assessor\u2019s no later than March1, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
